NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: The board of directors for Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc. is pleased to announce Kathryn Nester as the new Executive Director, who joined the office on November 26,2018.
Kathy previously held the position of Federal Public Defender in Salt Lake City, UT, and has spent her entire career working on federal criminal cases. In addition to her work with federal defender offices and in private practice, she has participated in numerous committees including the Sentencing Guidelines Committee, National Clemency Project Steering Committee, the U.S. Supreme Court Committee on Evidence Rules, she was a lobbyist advocating for equal justice in the Mississippi legislature, and has dedicated herself to many other national, regional, and local committees and projects.
Kathy also has incredible experience as a manager and mentor, particularly within the federal public defender community. Kathy is currently not admitted to practice in California.
